Thousands of students think this everyday and I thought it too.
I was once a pre-med student that scraped by in Physics I (without calculus) and even dropped Physics II because I was failing...
The next semester I did something crazy.
I signed up for a more challenging honors version of Physics II.
But why sign up for a more difficult version of a class that I was failing and was notorious as a "weed-out" course?
The honors course was smaller and taught by the chair of the department who was a great professor.
But what made him a great professor was simple...
It wasn't his way of explaining things.
He wasn't easier than other professors.
Instead, he made me want to go home and learn more.
So I became interested in physics. So what?
You don't need to be interested in physics to do well. But this changed my behavior.
Interest does not make you good at something.
But spending focused attention on something everyday does!
I was now doing what 90% of students don't. But that's not what led to me graduating summa cum laude (highest honors) in physics...
See, I didn't decide not to go to medical school, spend 2 additional years in college, take out more student loans, spend more years in grad school just because I was "interested in" physics.
To make all of those sacrifices, I wanted to be great at physics.
That's when I noticed...
Regardless of how talented someone is at something, the experts and professionals all have one thing in common...
The way they became the best.
I'm not saying you should try to become a professional physicist, but hear me out...
Athletes, artists, scientists, doctors, all spent almost everyday practicing in a special way.
They received fast, frequent feedback.
A quarterback gets critiqued between every play.
Singers collaborate on every phrase of every song and performance.
Scientists eat, sleep, and breathe their research and get feedback in every research meeting from their advisor.
And after a few years they become the best in the world.
Surely, we could use the same thing to get through college physics...
That's why I created the Mastering College Physics community!
"The professor, Mr. Norris, is easily the best part about this course. His dedication to helping students is something that deserves to be commended."
Engineering Physics II
"Professor was amazing and worked with me after class everyday. Best teacher I've ever had."
General Physics I
"Physics with Mr. Norris is a great course."
Engineering Physics II
"The instructor Jeremy Norris is a great physics teacher. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone in the class is prepared for the material and exam. Professor Norris will stay for hours after class with me to make sure I understand everything he just taught. He has a huge passion for physics and wants everyone to do great."
General Physics I & II
"What I like best from this class is that the material is always presented clearly. If an concerns were to arise from any individual instructor was very helpful and would clarify the material another way. I say that this was the best thing about the course because most instructors would not place that much attention to all of their students. As a student who struggles a lot with physics this was very beneficial."
General Physics I & II
"I like how Mr. Norris teaches."
General Physics I
"Mr. Norris is an excellent professor, and a great person."
General Physics I
"10/10 instructor"
Engineering Mechanics I
"Mr. Norris is super helpful. If you have questions, he doesn't mind staying later after school to help you better understand the concept. He goes above and beyond for his students inside and outside of the classroom."
Engineering Mechanics I
"Mr. Norris is a terrific teacher and makes sure that every student understands each lesson."
Engineering Mechanics I
"He takes his time with everyone and tries to teach us the easy way to understand physics."
General Physics I & II
"Mr. Norris goes above and beyond to help me outside of class by spending numerous office hours to help with any confusion I may have."
General Physics I
"The instructor was helpful and instructive."
General Physics I
"I like how well the teacher can present the material and explain very well to help students understand material."
General Physics I & II
"The think I like best about the course is the instructor. He makes it to where I can understand physics."

There are some topics that everyone struggles with. We're building a library of mini-lectures that cover them in a way your instructors didn't.
"MASTERING COLLEGE PHYSICS"?
Are you worried about taking Physics... because you heard that it's super difficult?
Do you think you're understanding... but you're lost when you start to do problems alone?
Are you encouraged to ask lots of questions... but you don't even know how to come up with a question?
Do you go to office hours... but the instructor/professor is intimidating or uninterested in helping?
Are you finding yourself doing well on homework... but you go blank on exams because they feel more difficult?
Do you struggle with the math and/or equations... even if you did well in algebra or calculus?
Are you overwhelmed with other courses like calculus and chemistry... but you somehow need to do well in all of them including physics at the same time?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions...
You should try out the Mastering College Physics community.
So instead...
No prerequisites. If you are enrolled in a physics 1 or 2 course (with or without calculus) then you already satisfy any prerequisites that your college or university may require. Everyone may be at a slightly different level and will be helped in whatever problem areas they may have.
Yes! The early you join the better, but doing well on your final exams and finishing a course strong can definitely affect your final grade. With that said, if you are days away from your final exam, it may be too late for us to help.
There is 24-hours written support (on weekdays) included which means that you will get questions answered within our members-only support groups usually within 1 day. Questions will still be answered on weekends, but there may be delays with no guarantees.
Yes! This is a common problem area for many students taking physics, even if you’ve aced your mathematics courses in the past. We’ll help you get stronger in the areas of mathematics that will make the biggest difference in your physics grade.
We support students directly and appreciate parents helping fund their child’s membership. However, we will only communicate progress or lack of progress with the student themselves. We encourage students to share their wins and losses so that we can celebrate and help them as much as possible, but we will not be communicating this on their behalf, even to parents.
This is not a course where we track progress in specific areas. We aim to make sure students progress in their actual physics course, but tracking this is ultimately up to the student. Inside the community, we do have practice tests that may serve as self-assessments students can use to determine if they are understanding concepts and are able to solve problems.
We offer private tutoring on top of the community and group calls. If you find yourself needing this level of support, message us for details to learn how we can help. Due to the size of the community and number of students we aim to help, we cannot offer 1-on-1 help to all members.
If you’ve entered all details correctly, you will receive an email inviting you to the community immediately after your purchase. You will first need to create an account and then instantly be able to ask questions and take advantage of our support.
Yes, you can cancel this membership at any time. You can change your membership status in your profile settings.
Yes, there is a 7-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. Please simply send us an email at jhnorrisbusiness@gmail.com to request a refund. There will be no refund if you rejoin later and cancel again.
Tutoring by itself is often inefficient and not enough, even if you have the best tutor/teacher in the world. We provide expert help, but include all the other ingredients to becoming proficient in physics as quickly as possible.
Hi, I'm Jeremy Norris. I went from hating math and physics to loving it! And along the way I learned that it is easier to enjoy things when you are good at them.
Since then I've figured out how to learn and gain proficiency fast. This has allowed me to graduate Summa Cum Laude (highest honors), earn two degrees in Physics (B.S. and M.S.), work as a Research Scientist at a successful Optics company at Stennis Space Center, and become an Instructor of Physics and Engineering where I help hundreds of students learn physics and go on to become doctors, architects, engineers, and more!
The only things I enjoy more than physics, is learning and helping others achieve their goals. For those willing to listen and work hard, I know that I can achieve mastery of intro physics.
money-back guarantee so you can rest easy
that this is the right choice.
In order to make sure we support students at the highest level, we're only allowing 100 students to join. When we're able to take on more students in the future, the price will increase.
